Sci-Fi Film Challenge - 2.28 Million Linden Prizes

The WD Project: Sci-Fi Film Challenge (Australia) 2013 is a Competition run by Screen My Shorts Inc in collaboration of WD (S.E.Asia Ltd). We invite entrants of all ages, cultures and ability to submit original creative digital content and win a share of the AUD 10,000 (L$2.28 Million) cash and prizes (with at least AUD 1,500 / L$230,000 reserved for Machinima), and have their works exposed on the international stage.

Linden Endowment of the Arts Debuts LEA Theatre April 15

As part of its new Media Arts Center initiative, the Linden Endowment of the Arts will debut a state-of-the-art multimedia event space on April 15th, entitled the LEA Theatre, a facility that will host machinima programs, innovative performances and interactive works.

Created by Werner Kurosawa, the LEA Theatre is a unique Qsim design, crossing into four regions with a very unique audience capacity of 240. The venue features high-tech amenities, such as a large Chat Bridge (allowing text-conversations to reach far into the audience across multiple sims), screens that become transparent when not in use, and an incredible Audio / Video / Web switching system that uses the AV1000 developed by AviewTV. One of the benefits, according to Kurosawa, '...probably the only place in SL where you can be with 240 avatars'

The Theatre also features a dazzling array of movable mirrored panels covering its unmistakable dome, making it an iconic structure on the LEA campus. Werner's design is based on Delauney and Voronoi generating principles. There is switchable ambient lighting and according to Theatre Manager LaPiscean Liberty 'roundtable seating for a cozy closeness'. This space is perfect for Film Premiers and Festivals, media-enabled conferences and much more.

LEA Theatre will unveil a series of regular events, such as the return of a monthly machinima program, and will host booked events, partnering with arts organizations and event producers with projects that can really benefit from the new facility. The grand opening event will be the screening of this year's Machinima 48 Hour Film Project submissions, presented by Chantal Harvey on April 15th.

The Media Arts Center is a special project of the Linden Endowment of the Arts that focuses on machinima and other new media. The LEA Theatre is the first of MAC's initiatives to be released, and a full-fledged MAC facility will be opened before summer 2012.
